The action / Application:
The special thing about the mini pill is that it only contains the hormone progestin. Through this hormone, the endometrium is inadequately developed and solidified the mucus in the cervix. Ovulation is inhibited in many women by the mini-pill.
There is a drug that completely inhibits ovulation. This mini-pill containing the progestin desogestrel.
The mini pill must be taken every day at the same time and must be taken more than 2 hours late. Exceeding the two hours of protection against pregnancy is already no longer exist. By up to 12 hours may be delayed in taking the above mentioned product with desogestrel. This is an exception!
Safety:
Since the mini-pill has no effect as other triple pill species, ovulation is generally not prevented. For this reason, the safety of the mini-pill is not as great as with combination pills.
Advantages:
Since the mini-pill is low dose, take therefore also less side effects than the combination pills. However, the reliability is lower because ovulation is not generally prevented.
Especially women who are breastfeeding, the mini-pill is recommended if they want to avoid hormones. For normal combination pills inhibit lactation and the baby would take too large amounts of hormone from the milk.
Disadvantages:
Through the mini-pill is most frequently caused between periods and the cycle can be very irregular. For this reason, the mini pill is prescribed only rarely, such as estrogen intolerance.
Many women are affected by the exact time of intake, because it requires a lot of discipline and respect in everyday life is difficult.
